Long Pond is a unique deep water body fed by highland streams and cool spring water. It appears to be a remnant of a "kettle pond" formed when a pocket of glacial ice was deposited by the retreating Wisconsin ice sheet about 15,000 years ago. Long be-loved by local residents, Long Pond offers a variety of relaxing and scheduled aquatic opportunities. Advanced planning is recommended and completed waivers are required. Long Pond is an open-water aquatic center serving the communities of West Point and the Town of Highlands, NY. Due to Cornwall Town Pool challenges this year, MWR has extended this offering in 2025 to Cornwall residents.
